Editorial Guidelines

Last updated: March 1, 2026

These guidelines govern all editorial content produced by NewsTriggers. Every member of our newsroom is expected to follow these standards without exception.

Sourcing Requirements

All factual claims must be supported by at least two independent sources. Single-source stories require approval from a senior editor and must clearly disclose the sourcing limitation to readers.

  • Named sources are always preferred over anonymous ones.
  • Anonymous sources may be used only when the information is of significant public interest and cannot be obtained through on-the-record channels.
  • At least one editor must know the identity of any anonymous source.
  • All direct quotes must be verified for accuracy before publication.

Headline Standards

  • Headlines must be factual and supported by the article content.
  • No clickbait, sensationalization, or misleading framing.
  • Maximum 110 characters for SEO optimization.
  • Headlines should be clear enough to stand alone without the article.

Corrections and Retractions

We correct errors promptly and transparently. See our full Corrections Policy for details on how we handle errors, corrections, clarifications, and retractions.

Conflict of Interest

Staff members must disclose any potential conflicts of interest to their editor before covering a story. This includes financial interests, personal relationships, and political affiliations that could affect coverage.

AI-Assisted Journalism

We use AI tools to assist with research, data analysis, and initial drafting. All AI-assisted content is reviewed and edited by human journalists before publication. See our full AI Policy for details.

Photo and Video Standards

  • All images must be properly credited with photographer/agency attribution.
  • No image manipulation beyond standard cropping and color correction.
  • AI-generated images must be clearly labeled.
  • Stock photos must not be used in a way that misleads readers about the story.
